Toucan Keep a Secret | 12 Years Old | 16.1hh Friesian/Percheron Mare
Toucan has quite the resume! Before joining our program, she spent part of her life as an amish plow horse. These days, she’s traded farm work for a much more exciting career teaching kids how to ride! Toucan loves jumping, cross country, dressage, and hitting the trails. She can be forward at times, so she’s best suited for our more intermediate to advanced riders who are ready for a little more “go.” Despite her enthusiasm under saddle, toucan is an incredibly sweet horse with a kind personality and has become a wonderful, versatile member of our lesson program.
Cisco | 19 years old | 14.1hh Spotted Saddle Horse Gelding
Cisco is one of our wonderful beginner lesson ponies! This gaited gentleman helps riders learn the basics of posting the trot, sitting the canter, and building confidence over small fences. Cisco has an incredibly sweet personality with just the right amount of stubbornness—and he isn’t afraid to humble a rider when he knows they’re ready for it! He’s a safe, steady teacher who has helped countless riders build confidence and independence in the saddle.
Mo’ Pickles | 12 Years Old | 14hh Welsh Pony Cross Mare
Cucumber LOVES to jump, and it’s definitely where she shines! She is a very safe and trustworthy ride, but her naturally forward way of going makes her best suited for our more advanced riders. She loves jumping, cross country, trail riding, competing, and of course, being pampered in the barn.
Cucumber has a sweet, social personality and will happily walk right up to you in the pasture—although she may promptly walk away again once she realizes you didn’t bring her a treat!
Oh Danny Boy | 25 Years Old | 14hh Morab Gelding
Danny is one of our tried-and-true starter ponies for our most beginner riders. He loves the slow and steady life, and we certainly never have to worry about him going too fast! While he’ll happily jog around with the tiniest beginners at home, Danny comes alive when he sees the horse trailer—there’s nothing he loves more than showing off at a jumper or hunter show.
Many of our riders started their horse-showing careers on Danny, making him a very special part of our program. He’s safe, reliable, and an excellent teacher, but he definitely knows what he likes—and what he DOESN’T! Cross country may not be his idea of a good time, but hunter shows, apples, and plenty of attention are definitely the way to his heart.
Darla | 14 Years Old | 15.2hh American Warmblood Mare
Darla is truly worth her weight in gold. She’s one of the most trustworthy horses in our program and is down for just about anything—while simultaneously approaching everything she does like an absolute tank! Definitely more “whoa” than “go,” Darla is safe, steady, and confidence-building for her riders.
She dominates on cross country and in the hunter arena and is always ready to take care of her person. Darla is a farm favorite, an irreplaceable member of our program, and one of those special horses who has earned herself a forever home with us.
Cookie Butter | 10 Years Old | 11hh Pony Gelding
Cookie Butter is one of the newest—and smallest—members of our lesson herd! Since he’s still new to us, we’re taking things slow and giving him plenty of time to learn the ropes. He’ll start out with our intermediate riders while he settles into his new job, with hopes of becoming a fun addition to our show team!
As he gains experience, Cookie will make his way into our beginner program and eventually give pony rides to some of our littlest riders. He rides, drives, LOVES sugar cubes, and is quite possibly as cute as a button
Havana | 19 Years Old | 16.1hh Standardbred Mare
Havana is quite possibly the quietest, sweetest, and most trustworthy horse in our lesson program. Despite her size, she’s perfect for even our most beginner riders and takes wonderful care of riders of all ages.
Before joining us, Havana was a harness racehorse. These days, she’s enjoying a much softer and quieter life filled with easy walk/trot lessons in the arena and relaxing trail rides. She’s the definition of a gentle giant and one of those special horses you can trust to take care of just about anyone.
Ambassadeur’s John | 24 Years Old | 14.2hh Haflinger Gelding
Johnny is a staple of our beginner lineup—slow, steady, trustworthy, and always ready to take care of his rider. He has a very “in your pocket” personality and is convinced that every person who walks into the barn must have a treat for him.
Johnny can definitely be stubborn and prefers to do things his way, which makes him a fantastic teacher. He makes his kids work for it while always keeping them safe and building their confidence along the way. He loves his job, loves his riders, and perhaps most importantly, loves snacks!
Missin’ Maggie | 14 Years Old | 15.3hh Thoroughbred Mare
Maggie is the definition of a solid citizen. She carries everyone from our beginner riders all the way through riders jumping 2'9", happily going slow, slow, slow when her rider needs it—but she knows exactly how to kick it up a gear when a more advanced rider takes over.
She’s trustworthy on the trails, even alone, and incredibly gentle with humans and animals alike. Before her lesson-horse career, Maggie was a racehorse, and she even has the legendary Man o’ War in her pedigree! Versatile, kind, and dependable, Maggie is one of those special horses who can truly do a little bit of everything.
Barron Sparrow Hawk | 21 Years Old | 14.3hh Quarter Horse Mare
Nova is our resident pocket rocket! Cow-bred out West, she spent much of her life barrel racing before changing careers and becoming one of the best little jumpers in the barn. Don’t let her size or tiny legs fool you—Nova has no problem keeping up with the big horses in the 2'6" division!
She’s definitely on the forward side and loves having a job to do, but every now and then she remembers her western roots and pulls out a nice little jog. Nova is proof that big talent can come in a small package!
World On A Wing | 11 Years Old | 16hh Thoroughbred Gelding
Ringo is an off-track Thoroughbred who never quite forgot that he was a racehorse—he really likes to go fast! His forward nature makes him a great match for our most advanced riders, especially when it comes to his favorite job: jumping.
Despite his need for speed, Ringo is as kind as they come. There’s no funny business under saddle, he’s trustworthy and bombproof on the trails, will stand on the cross ties for hours, and is polite with every handler. He is truly gentle, gentle, gentle—he just happens to believe everything is a race!
Trixie | 11 Years Old | 15hh Percheron Cross Mare
Trixie is brand new to our lesson program, and we’re so excited to see what she’s capable of! She’s sweet as can be and will come right up to you in the pasture looking for attention. Thick, compact, and absolutely adorable, Trixie is still learning the ropes around here, but we’re looking forward to seeing where she fits into our program as we get to know her!
